The incident occurred at a boatyard in Naknek, Alaska, where emergency workers responded to a 911 call. Mavar was transported to Camai Medical Center but was pronounced dead. An investigation is underway, with no cause of death provided yet.

“Deadliest Catch,” airing on the Discovery Channel, highlights the perilous lives of crab fishermen in the Bering Sea. It has captivated audiences since its premiere on April 12, 2005, running for multiple seasons and winning numerous awards, including Emmys.

In 2022, Mavar filed a lawsuit against F/V Northwestern, claiming a severe injury from a ruptured appendix. A cancerous tumor was later found in his appendix, leading to ongoing legal action against the show’s production company.
