Trump Announces Ft. Knox Trip To See If ‘Gold Is There’

Former President Donald Trump announced plans to visit Fort Knox, Kentucky, to verify the presence of the nation’s gold reserves.

In a social media clip, he stated, “We’re gonna go into Fort Knox to make sure the gold is there.” The U.S. Mint reports that the last non-authorized inspection occurred in 1943. Fort Knox houses 147.3 million ounces of gold, valued at approximately $435 billion. The depository, one of the most secure facilities in the world, has only allowed limited inspections, with the last one in 2017. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has expressed willingness to arrange future inspections for senators interested in verifying the reserves.
