I Refused to Switch Seats for a Mom with Her Anxious Kid And She Broke Down

I board the plane and settle into my economy-plus seat.

A woman requested that I move seats so that her 9-year-old son could sit beside her. I asked how much she would reimburse me for the money I spent on the seat. She called me cruel for leaving her anxious son sitting alone.

The parent “cared more about her own comfort”.

I then inquired whether she had offered her economy plus seat to the passenger seated next to her son. She stated that she “needed the leg room”. I said she was more concerned with her comfort than her son’s well-being. If she cared, she would leave her place and move to the back.

She broke down.

At that point, she burst into tears, crying and shouting, “How could you!” Ten minutes later, a joyful man sat down next to me, beaming from his nice upgrade. My husband later informed me that I should not have questioned her parenting in public or made her cry.
