Donald Trump Signs Executive Orders

Trump immediately began signing a bevy of executive orders designed to reshape American institutions and assert his power over the federal government.

On Monday, he issued a sweeping order temporarily halting all federal grant and loan disbursements by the federal government, a move that could affect a range of services for millions of people across the country. The order was set to take effect on Tuesday.

Last week, he also issued pardons or commuted sentences for hundreds of his followers charged in the Jan. 6, 2021, riot at the U.S. Capitol, prompting criticism from police officers who defended the Capitol from the mob.
