Jodie Foster is not someone who minces her words and usually is known truthful about how she feels. So similarly, she made an honest admission about her feelings towards Gen-Z which are not always positive.

In an interview with The Guardian, she revealed that working with Gen-Z sometimes could check her patience. She said, “They’re really annoying, especially in the workplace. They’re like, ‘Nah, I’m not feeling it today, I’m gonna come in at 10:30 a.m.’” she said. Adding, “Or, like, in emails, I’ll tell them this is all grammatically incorrect, did you not check your spelling? And they’re like, ‘Why would I do that, isn’t that kind of limiting?’”

The Academy-Award-winning actress is clearly less than amused by the newest generation’s work ethic. But clearly, she does not want to lose their support or upset them because at the Golden Globes red carpet, she clarified her comments.

In a red carpet interview at the 81st Golden Globes on Sunday at The Beverly Hilton, the 61-year-old actress qualified her previous remarks. She wanted to let everyone especially Gen-Z know that she “loves” them and that her two sons are from the same generation as well.

“I adore them. They have all this freedom, which is wonderful but we didn’t have. We didn’t know we could say no, for example, and it’s just created a miraculous, confident, different, authentic people,” she said. She added, “But it also makes them, you know.”

The interviewee interjected and offered “very difficult sometimes,” to which she merely agreed and said an empathic “Yes.”

“But you need them in order to make your phone work,” she added as a funny afterthought. “What can I say.”

Her previous comment saying she is irritated with Gen-Z clearly did not go over well and must have been bothering her for her to clear it up in the interview. Everyone is entitled to their personal opinions!
